Social networks are these days riddled with videos of people telling us how to manifest (materialize what we desire into our reality). We can find a myriad of podcasts, meditation lessons, affirmations and books instructing on how to become powerful manifesters for living in plenty. Teeming this sea of information are phrases and quotes such as: “You are the creator of your reality,” “If you can believe it, you can create it,” “Ask for what you want, and let the universe do the rest,” “Reach a higher frequency and start transforming your reality.” I found all this information confusing and hard to take in, for I love science and I have a quite analytical mind. And although all these phrases and quotes I’ve just mentioned speak truth, not even those who have them as part of their life philosophy are able to explain how manifestation actually works. Additionally, the truth in these is so condensed, that it raises more questions than answers in those whom just came into metaphysics.

These are the points I believe we should not lose sight of, as we move forwards into discovering our manifestation power:

1. Energy is everything.

Surely you have heard that energy is everything; that the world and the universe are made of the same energy as our body, emotions and thoughts. What does this have to do with manifesting or designing our reality? Well, we need to be in tune with the same vibration and frequency of that what we wish to turn into reality in our life.

2. Difference between vibration and frequency.

Both are forms of energy. Frequency is about thoughts, I mean, what we focus on (pay attention to). Suppose we wish to manifest good health, but our attention is set on how bad we feel, on our symptoms and the way our illness is affecting our quality of life; our frequency will be on illness and not on health, and so the signal we are sending off will not be able to bring us any closer to the health we desire.

On the other hand, vibration is about emotions–the way we feel. We can feel emotions that set us to a high vibration (unconditional love, joy, fun, playfulness, optimism, gratitude, certainty, hope, curiosity, acceptance, connection, serenity, strength, and courage, among others), or emotions that set us to a low vibration (sadness, anger, rage, hatred, helplessness, shame, guilt, selfishness, crankiness, disbelief, insecurity, nervousness, worry, jealousy, fear, fright, weakness, confusion, and rejection, to mention a few).

When we want to manifest something, our vibration and frequency must align with what we want. Both vibration and frequency send a signal to the universe so that what we want comes our way without us having to chase it. It’s essential to say right away that emotion cannot be faked, for, as I just said, emotions are energy. We can utter an affirmation a thousand times a day, appearing to be positive, but if our emotion is not in line with what we are wishing for, it’s just not going to work.

Going back to the health example, let's imagine we want to manifest a body in full homeostasis so we try to focus on health, but as the symptoms we are feeling aggravate us, we feel desperation and helplessness for not getting closer to the so-desired homeostasis. The longed-for health balance won’t come to us as long as we are not observing consistency and coherency between what we seek and what we feel.

Many of us most likely have a good understanding of what this vibration - frequency matter is about. However, we also wonder how to keep our focus and feel the high vibrational emotions that help us reach what we want.

3. Recognize beliefs, traumas, memories & programming, and work on them.

Have you ever had the feeling that something is wrong with you because, no matter how hard you try to think positively, you just can’t help it? Do you stay sad or in distress and believe you’ll never be able to manifest? In my view, the issue is that few people talk about how important and necessary it is to identify, recognize and transform our traumas, and to turn our beliefs and programming around in order to procure and maintain the energy (frequency and vibration) that will bring what we want closer to us.

At this stage, recognizing what’s holding us back from achieving our goals is an important first step, but bear in mind that while talking about our beliefs, traumas, memories or programming could help us to a certain degree, it won’t be enough for transforming them. For this reason, some people get the impression that psychotherapy is slow and that frequently, the patient ends up becoming dependent on the therapy or the therapist

So, what can we do to get rid of all that “garbage” we carry, which is no longer useful to us?

4. Applying tools such as meditation, or the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

If we want to go beyond merely acknowledging our beliefs, memories and traumas, but actually do something about them, we should consider using these tools, for they will enable us to transform and release the energy those beliefs, memories and traumas hold.

Meditation done properly helps you reach altered states of consciousness from which you can work thoroughly on yourself at greater depths. For instance, when you work on a limiting belief through meditation, you operate from your unconscious or subconscious mind, and so you’re able to transform it permanently.

Think of your mind as a computer full of programs that instruct it how to operate. Many of them may be outdated and removing them or installing new ones might be essential for the computer to keep top performance. Meditation works in a very similar fashion.

Alternatively, the Emotional Release Technique is a relatively quick method of modifying thoughts and emotions, with the plus of not requiring the subject to be in a quiet environment the way meditation calls for, as well as being easy to implement. One of its many advantages is that it helps the subject quickly go from “fight-flight” mode (sympathetic nervous system) to “rest and digest” mode (parasympathetic nervous system), making it much easier to permanently heal.

5. Cleansing and protecting your energy.

This item is especially relevant for empathic individuals, those with nervous system disorders, and highly sensitive people –my case–, as our antenna (nervous system) is more sensitive than that of most people, which makes us carry stimuli, energy, programs, beliefs and even traumas in our space that are not even ours, without us even realizing it.

However, all of us (either sensitive or not) can greatly benefit from cleansing and protecting our energy.
